Environmental safety and environment protection activities

Responsible attitude to implementation of production tasks, rational organization and coordination of activities, use of high-quality materials only, certified in accordance with international standards as well as observance of technologies and industrial processes are the fundamental principles of environmental safety of production.

 

Regular monitoring of environmental indicators for ongoing projects allows to adequately assess the extent of influence of potential risks on the environment. All companies of Smart Energy Group undertake proactive measures in order to minimize the impact of their industrial activities.

 

In 2013, Smart Energy Group successfully completed one of the most important stages of environmental standardization – the Representative Office of Regal Petroleum Corporation Limited was certified according to DSTU ISO 14001:2006 Environmental Management Systems. Requirements with Guidance for Use. Similar efforts are included in short-term plans of other Group’s companies. At the same time, the quarterly comprehensive environmental monitoring (soil, water, flora and fauna), conducted by an independent company, has been mandatory for all the companies of Smart Energy Group for a long time.


Also, in 2018 the Representative Office of Regal Petroleum Corporation Limited re-certified compliance of the operations with international standards of occupational safety and health management systems. As a result, operational activities of the Representative Office of Regal Petroleum Corporation Limited confirmed their compliance with such standards: State Standard of Ukraine ISO 9001:2015, State Standard of Ukraine OHSAS 18001:2010, ISO 14001:2015.

 

In 2017, the companies of Smart Energy Group allocated a total of UAH 4.6 million for implementation of environmental studies and minimization of production processes’ impact on the environment.


Gas production companies of Smart Energy Group have modernized their production infrastructure in order to improve both operational and environmental performance, as well as technical characteristics of the facilities.

 

In the 4th quarter of 2012, the modernization of Bystrovskaya Gas Treatment Unit (GTU) of Ostroverkhovskoye GCF in Kharkov region was accomplished. In the 3rd quarter of 2013, a yearlong 2nd stage of reconditioning of temporary metering and separation station (TMSS), Mekhedovsko-Golotovshchinskoye GCF in Poltava region, was completed.

 

As a result of the facilities’ modernization and reconstruction the relevant equipment was replaced, technological processes were automated, allowing now to solve a number of issues, including improvement of environmental parameters of such infrastructure facilities, particularly:

 

  • significant reduction of gas flaring, gas losses and air emissions
  • expansion of control level of pollution on/around the area of TMSS and GTU
  • development of an enclosed gas measuring system on a well
  • better observance of environmental laws, safety regulations in the oil and gas industry of Ukraine, OS, etc.

 

Construction and commissioning of Vasishchevskaya GTU (Vasishchevskoye GCF, Kharkov region) with consideration of all the above-mentioned requirements has become another example of strict observance of environmental norms.

 

Furthermore, at the end of 2013, the installation and commissioning of Condensate Stabilization Unit (CSU) was completed at TMSS of Mekhedovsko-Golotovshchinskoye GCF. CSU design work was launched in the 1st quarter of 2012, the installation lasted from the 4th quarter of 2012 till the 4th quarter of 2013.

 

Thanks to CSU commissioning, the efficient use of raw materials and environmental performance of TMSS have greatly increased. In addition, production of liquefied petroleum gas extracted at the field was launched. The obtained marketable products (liquefied propane-butane) are the best and most environment-friendly alternatives to any other hydrocarbon fuel used in road transport and for utility purposes.


On request, in particular, Representative Office Regal Petroleum Corporation Limited and Private Joint-Stock Company Ukragazvydobutok with the help of independent environmental-research companies all year round and in stages conduct environmental monitoring of the state of soil, underground and open water, Flora and Fauna throughout entire area of the company’s activities. Results of such researches, that has never detected any exceedance of permissible standards are published on Smart Energy Group web site and always available to general public.
